Sunday
May 11
This week at the Poets' Asylum we will hold our regular open mic followed by a cash slam. Poets will perform poems of their own creation in 2 rounds scored by randomly chosen judges. The winner will receive a percentage of the bucket based on the luck of the draw from a deck of cards. Come join in the fun at The Q Cafe (362 Chandler Street, Worcester). The open mic sign-up list goes out around 7:00 p.m. and the reading starts closer to 7:30 p.m. No cover; please throw some money in the bucket to support the reading.

Monday
May 12
The Community Voices Poetry Open Mic meets every Monday night. They meet at Jester's (124 Elm Street, Westfield - next to Performance Music). The poetry kicks off at 7:00 p.m. This week they will hold an open mic followed by a feature by Sympetalous. No cover; throw some money in the bucket to support the reading.

There is a new poetry reading starting in Putnam, CT. Flood Stage is being held at Victoria Station Cafe (91 Main Street, Putnam, CT). They will meet on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. There is an open mic - 2 or 3 poems with a maximum of 8 minutes. Check it out if you have a chance.


Tuesday

GotPoetry Live! meets every Tuesday night at Reflections Cafe, 8 Govenor Street, Providence, RI. The reading starts at 7:30 p.m. with an open mic. The cover is a very reasonable $2. This week they will hold the regular open mic followed by a feature by Len Germinara.

Wednesday
May 14
Are you a woman who writes? Then consider stopping by The Q Cafe (362 Chandler Street, Worcester) tonight from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. A group of interested women will be getting together to discuss restarting the Shakti Women's Writing Pact.

The Boston Slam at the Cantab Lounge (738 Mass Avenue, Cambridge) holds a reading every Wednesday night starting at 8 p.m. The night starts with an open mic. Tonight the Logan Philips will follow the open mic. That will be followed by a the Season Championship slam as part of the 8x8 series. Cover is $3.


Thursday
May 15
Bobby Gibbs is running a poetry slam at the Hotel Vernon (1 Millbury Street, Worcester). The Spot at the Kelly Square Yacht Club meets at 8:00 p.m. sign-up with the show starting at 8:30. Every Thursday night there will be an open mic followed by a feature. This week the feature will be Jaime Caroline. No cover but bring money to buy a beverage and to support the feature.

Ballard Street Poetry Journal will host their next Poetry Workshop today between 3 and 5 p.m. at the offices of the Worcester County Poetry Association (1 Ekman Street, first floor, Worcester).
