The Shakti Women's Writing Pact was created with the intention of enhancing women's sense of belonging within the poetry community through the creation of an unmoderated writing circle. We try to foster literary and performance growth through writing exercises and honest critique, and a pact that the poems born of this circle will be read in front of a public audience within a week of their creation.

Shakti first met from early 2002 until October 2007. They regrouped in April 2008 and are now meeting again.
