July 11th Revisited

It was a busy night at the Poets' Asylum this week with a packed open mic, a
spotlight feature by *Sara Brickman* and a full feature by *Dawn Gabriel*.
Dawn mixed a handful of older works familiar to some of the Asylum regulars
with newish pieces not heard in central Massachusetts before. From "boat
eggs" to an answering machine holding a Greek tragedy Dawn brought panache
and a great performance. It was wonderful to hear from her again during our
20th anniversary year. Thanks for the words Dawn, don't be a stranger.

Social Networking for Slam

SlamProfile.com <http://www.slamprofile.com/> is a social networking site by
and for Slam poets and fans of Slam poetry. It has a lot to offer, even
right now in its earliest stage. You'll find forums, blogs, video & audio
clips, poet profiles and more. SlamProfile.com is the brainchild of Lindsay
Stone, after being within the Slam community for many years and noticing how
the social networks provided to the public do not meet the specific needs of
the poetry community. Lindsay wanted to develop a website that could become
a single source for communication, promotion, resources, as well as be open
to the public without the need for fees or dues.

Mighty Mike McGee says *"I was the 41st poet to join, the water is warm and
there is plenty of room. If it catches on, it should feel like a viable,
valuable social networking tool for poets in no time."* Won't you join in
the fun?
