Sunday, July 11th @ the Poets' Asylum

[image: [Dawn Gabriel]] Our feature this week has been a part of the Poets'
Asylum since the early days of the reading. *Dawn Gabriel* has been
performing her poetry for over 15 years, including stints with
Lollapalooza's Spoken Word stage, the Seattle Poetry Festival, and Boston's
First Night. Dawn has competed at the National Poetry Slam with teams from
Boston, Worcester, and Providence, R.I. She is an occasional co-host for the
Boston Poetry Slam. She was instrumental in the success of the Asylum-hosted
2005 Individual World Poetry Slam championships and we can't wait to hear
her work again.

We are pleased to also have a spotlight performance by *Sara Brickman*. She
is a ten year veteran of the spoken word stage and has competed nationally
representing the youth community of Ann Arbor, the Hampshire College Slam
Collective, the Seattle Poetry Slam, and the great state of Brickmania.

Please come down to the Nu Cafe (formerly Jumpin' Juice & Java, 335 Chandler
Street, Worcester). The sign-up list goes out at 6:00 p.m. and the reading
starts by 6:30. No cover; donations accepted to pay the feature.

venue's 20th anniversary shows there's life for poetry slammers when the
competition's done". Victor examines the happenings at the Poets' Asylum and
the greater performance poetry community with quotes & comments from
numerous poets and poetry organizers.
