Coming up on Sunday, April 25th
[image: Jackie Morrill] The Poets' Asylum <http://poetsasylum.org/> closes
out National Poetry Month with a feature by an up and coming voice on the
Worcester poetry scene. *Jackie Morrill* has been dabbling in poetry since
her junior high days of angst and self-deprecation, but only just recently
discovered the crazy world of Slam one year ago. She was named the first
Miss Dirty Gerund at Ralph's Chadwick Square Diner last year and has also
earned the title of Iron Poet Champ three times. Jackie hopes to someday
attend graduate school in San Francisco, CA, but her heart will always
belong to the folks of Worcester, MA. Though her subject matter mostly deals
with the vanity of her own life, recent fascinations and all-night Google
expeditions have led her to brave new persona pieces involving samurai honor
codes, possession, cannibalism and the hunting habits of barn owls. Her
first chapbook is titled *The language of scraped knees*.
We hope you'll check out this exciting local poet by coming down to Jumpin'
Juice & Java (335 Chandler Street, Worcester) on Sunday, April 25th. The
sign-up list goes out by 6:00 p.m. and the reading starts by 6:30 p.m. No
cover however please put some money in the bucket; it is how we pay our
features.

April 18th Revisited
*Karen Finneyfrock* was our feature this week. Karen read work from her new
book *Ceremony for the Choking Ghost* (Write Bloody Press) as well as other
work. At times a feather, at times thundercloud, she performed some great
work and received plenty of kudos in response. Thanks for being part of the
reading Karen.
Thanks also go out to the folks who read their work for the first time this
week. It's great to hear new voices. He hope you'll join us again sometime
soon.
