College Union National Poetry
Slam Championship Tournament
The College Union National Poetry Slam Championship Tournament is happening
at Emerson College in Boston from April 7-10th. Teams from around the
country will descend on the Boston area to compete, including a team from
Clark University in Worcester.
There will be preliminary match-ups on Wednesday & Thursday evening. Friday
evening semi-finals will be held and the Grand Championship event takes
place Saturday night with host Simone Beaubien. Most events are free.

April 11th @ the Poets' Asylum
[image: Lea Deschenes] Join the Poets' Asylum on Sunday, April 11th for our
regular open mic followed by a feature by Asylum co-founder *Lea C.
Deschenes*. Lea C. Deschenes is a Worcesterite by choice, if not by birth.
Her poetry has appeared online, on stage and in print, and she holds an MFA
in Poetry from New England College <http://www.nec.edu/>. A former member of
four National Poetry Slam teams and a coach to two more, she also dusts off
her BA in Theater to perform. Deschenes has received a Jacob Knight Award,
been nominated for two Pushcart Prizes and represented Worcester in the 2005
Individual World Poetry Slam. Her first full-length collection The Constant
