the *2009 Worcester Slam Finals*. The top finishers from the eight

Balel, Dave Keali'i, Danielle Carriveau, Aslan King and McKendy Fils-Aime.
This is bound to be a hot night with great poetry and top rate performances
from everyone.
You can join in the fun by coming down to Jumpin' Juice and Java (335
Chandler Street, Worcester). The reading starts at *6:00 p.m.* No cover;
please throw some money in the bucket to support the slam team. We hope to
see you Sunday night!

May 17th Revisited
Thanks to all those who came out this week for the *Cover Slam*, especially
the enthusiastic table of mostly newcomers in the back of the room. The work
of Leonard Cohen, Taylor Mali, Gary Hoare, Eric Darby, William S. Burroughs,
Shannon Leigh, and Simone Beaubien filled the room via the vocal cords of
Dave Mac, Cyndi Keeley, Bill MacMillan and Trevor Byrne-Smith. At the end of
the night *Bill MacMillan* won the slam and the $10 prize. He generously
donated the prize money back to the Asylum to help fund the slam team.

Fundraising Update
As of May 17th we need to raise an additional $1313 to send the team to
West Palm Beach (and back), cover the hotel room, pay for PSI memberships
for the team members and maybe give the team a bit toward food. We will be
polling the audience the next couple of weeks to find out what fundraising
activities they find to most appealing. Please join the reading and be part
of the decision making process.
We are looking toward our always supportive community for their assistance
in raising that money. If you have an idea for a fundraiser that you are
willing to organize please drop an email to webmaster @ poetsasylum .
