Divine*. Divine is a feminist, educator, published writer, performance
artist, visual artist, producer, and award winning poet. She has toured and
competed across the country, with over ten years of involvement in the
National Poetry Slams; from competition to volunteering, organizing and
hosting (four of those years on the Worcester Team). Seren earns a living as
a Professional Performance Poet, leading Performance & Writing Workshops for
youth from Queens to Brooklyn, and in colleges and universities along the
east coast. She has five collections in print, two recordings & is widely
anthologized; most recently in *Bowery Women Poems* (Bowery Arts & Science,
Ltd.) Seren recently debuted her first multi-media one woman show at New
York City's historic WOW Cafe Theater; *Be Here Now*.

Head down to Jumpin' Juice and Java (335 Chandler Street, Worcester). The
reading starts at *6:00 p.m.* No cover; please throw some money in the
bucket to support the feature.

March 1st Revisited

There may have been more folks in the *100 Word Slam* than in the open mic
this week but that's OK. Hardy poets gathered at Jumpin' Juice & Java Sunday
night despite the pending winter storm for a bit of word play. The challenge
was to craft two poems using 100 words. 8 poets rose to the task, though one
had to drop out because he didn't realize he needed two pieces. Still there
was some interesting work, a couple of real gems and a lot of new writing
going one. At the end of the night *Melinda* took first place and the $50
prize that went with it.

Thanks to everyone who competed and came out for the fun.
