Coming up on Sunday, February 22nd

[image: Poetic Boxing] This week we will hold the next *open qualifying slam
* for the 2009 Worcester Slam team. Plus we'll have a spotlight
feature by *Jadon
Woodward*, two time Jacksonville (FL) Youth Poetry Grand Slam Champion.

Poetry slam is the competitive art of performance poetry. It puts a dual
emphasis on writing and performance, encouraging poets to focus on what
they're saying and how they're saying it. Slam poetry can be moving, funny
and deadly serious, sometimes all in the same poem. If that sounds like a
good time then join us for some great words. The top finisher tonight moves
on to the Team Finals in May. Please visit the Slam
page<http://poetsasylum.org/slam.html>for more info on poetry slam and
how it's run in Worcester.

Please join us at Jumpin' Juice and Java (335 Chandler Street, Worcester).
The reading starts at *6:00 p.m.* No cover; please throw some money in the
bucket to support the features.

February 15th Revisited

*Caitlin Meissner* was our feature this week. She brought a bit of a
different voice to our stage with a mix of slam influenced rhythm and Yusef
Komunyakaa inspired subjects. Her work included work about adolescence,
love, Miles Davis, heartbreak and more. A passionate performer she drew the
audience into her work and words. Thanks for sharing with us Caitlin.
