Lea Deschenes @ d'Alzon Poetry Reading - Friday, October 17th

The *d'Alzon Arts Series: Poetry Reading* meets Friday, October 17th at
Assumption College (500 Salisbury Street, Worcester) in the Emmanuel d'Alzon
Library. The format is an open mic for the first half-hour or so, a short
break with refreshments and then the featured poets. The reading starts at
7:00 p.m. This month their features will be *Lea Deschenes* and *David
Surette*.

Coming up on Sunday, October 19th

[image: Ryk McIntyre] This week the Poets' Asylum welcomes member of the
2008 Worcester Slam team, *Ryk McIntyre*, as our feature. He is a co-host at
The Cantab Poetry Reading in Cambridge, MA and GotPoetry Live! in
Providence, RI. He has toured nationally and in Canada, opening for acts as
varied as Leon Redbone, Andrei Codrescu and Jim Carroll. McIntyre read at
venues such as Boston's ICA, New York's New School and Lollapalooza 1994. He
was featured at the very first "Legends Of Slam" showcase reading at NPS
2006. He has been published in Short-Fuse- An Anthology Of New Fusion Poets,
100 Poets Against The New World Order, Nth Magazine and The Worcester
Review.

Please join us at Jumpin' Juice and Java (335 Chandler Street, Worcester).
The reading starts at *6:00 p.m.*. No cover; please throw some money in the
bucket to support the features.

October 12th Revisited

Congratulations to *Alex Charalambides* on winning the iWPS Selection Slam
tonight. Alex will represent Worcester and the Poets' Asylum at the 2008
Individual World Poetry Slam <http://individualworldpoetryslam.com/> this
December in Charlotte, NC.

Many thanks to all the poets who came out to perform: Danny, Tony, Rushelle,
Bobby, Alex, Jeff, Nick, Dave K., April and Big Poppa E. Thanks too to the
judges, host Bill MacMillan and most importantly the audience. We couldn't
do this stuff without you.
